If you look into Jason Kendrick’s eyes, you will see steely determination.
In the lead up to the season his intensity his stepped up to a new level – backed up by the regimented approach by all involved, headed up by team owner Geoff Kendrick and crew chief Jason Mansell who have been going over the inventory with a fine-tooth comb.
They all have a common goal – to be at the top of sprintcar racing here in Western Australia.
The two-time and defending Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series champions are honest in their assessment of what they want to achieve in the 2019-20 summer, with a three-peat of championships being top of mind.
And Jason has already put in a lot of hard yards in the off-season to make this happen.
The team had a big practice session at Bunbury, followed by two hit-outs at the Perth Motorplex, to shakedown all the equipment and finalise its testing.
Now attention turns to the season-opener at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night as part of the Shannon’s Powerpalooza – an event that is set to attract a big crowd.
Team owner Geoff said like everyone else heading into the first show, they want to win.
“We all go down to the track with the same idea in mind, but with extensive testing over the past month, we are in good shape and ready to go,” Geoff said.
“We are looking forward to the season and starting off with a fresh, clean sheet of paper and getting some runs on the board.
“We believe we have got a very good package and we haven’t changed much, except for some minor changes to our engine program, with no changes to our chassis and suspension programs.
“We have new KPC cars and lots of spares ready to run the whole season.
“We are grateful to have wonderful support from our corporate partners and we look forward to representing them well and celebrating success with them again this summer.”
Being the defending champions, the team knows it has a target on its back, but everyone is happy to have that added pressure, knowing they set their own benchmark extremely high.
How will it all unfold?
Make sure you head along to the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night in what should be a massive start to the new season.
